This & that

Hahahahahahahaha … this is definitely a first for yours truly … lost for words or rather lost for words to string as a title. It’s been quite a while but time is not my friend. But then again, that is just an excuse. If you want to do it, you’ll make time to do it. Ok … here goes … the ramblings of today.

Amelia is away in MMU for a class trip but Suraiya is at home. We got up rather early but had to do this and that before headng to Desa Waterpark for UM Library’s Staff Family Day. About 35 staff turned up with their families or singly and I truly appreciate their effort. I had my breakfast, socialised, had lunch, gave out presents, socialised some more and then said my goodbyes.

A very busy day at this water park

Then we are off to Intan Tailor in Sungai Buloh to send cloth for Suraiya’s kurung. Intan was all by herself at her sewing machine with the radio blaring an unfamiliar song. I do admire her drive and passion for sewing … I call it passion but she said that it’s her source of income but I do like her tailoring and the girls have had her as their tailor for quite a while. We took the back road via Subang Airport to our home but stop to get cendol and rojak. Home and we lazed around. Slept, cooked dinner and plonked myself down to tinker with my blog … notice the new appearance … watched the Terengganu vs Negri Sembilan game live via TV1 and oh, Terengganu lost by 1 goal to Negri Sembilan. Disappointed but there’ll be another game next time round. It’s 11.16 pm (Malaysian time) and I have yet to eat the food I cooked for dinner. Probably still full from breakfast, lunch and tea.

Love the simplicity … my girls are not fussy eaters

That was how I spent my day (29 October 2011). How did you spend yours? And did I tell you that I’m suppose to be on a plane to Bangkok at 1.20 pm today? Well, that’s another story.

About Edzan Nasir

Born in Kuantan, Pahang on 29 May 1957, I received almost all of my pre-school, primary and secondary education in Kuantan. I then left to do my diploma and Bachelor's degree in Shah Alam, Dungun and Penang. My first paid job was as a research assistant with the Penang Structure Plan and luck was on my side when I secured a job as an administrative officer at the USM Library in 1983. Don't get me wrong - I was doing library work but since I do not possess any library science qualification, I cannot be called a librarian. In 1984, I managed to secure an AUIDP scholarship to pursue my PGD Info. Mgmt (Librarianship) at the University of New South Wales. Coming back to Penang with my PGD in hand, I became a full fledged librarian. From 1986 to March 1991, I was posted to the USM Library in Ipoh and then Tronoh. With 2 young daughters, I secured a job with the UM Library in Kuala Lumpur where I stayed till I retired on 28 May 2017. In between (1999-2007), I became a lecturer, Associate Professor and Deputy Dean. It was a short stint in academia but those were among the best days of my life. I was given a scholarship by UM to do my M.Sc. at Leeds Metropolitan University and my Ph.D. at the University of Malaya. Nowadays, with lots of free time on hand, I travel, become a consultant and facilitator for library-related events, read (occasionally), blog (when I feel like it) and most of all enjoy my time with my family. Apart from my siblings (8 of us but 2 have left us), nephews, nieces, grandchildren, I have 2 daughters, a son-in-law and a granddaughter. My blog is all about my personal experiences then and now as well as my thoughts and feelings. I do blog about issues that are of interest to me but I truly do not favour controversies. In essence, my blog is my personal footprint for my descendants.
